Omurice Recipe: Easy Japan Rice Omelette

Ingredients

  • 3 whole eggs (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • fresh onions (macédoine)

For Crispy Rice

  • 200g cooked rice (plain)
  • 20g unsalted butter
  • any kind of vegetables (to saute with rice)
  • salt and fresh ground black paper

Omurice Sauce

  • 50 g thinly-sliced beef (tenderloin)
  • 1/4 bunch shimeji mushrooms (or shitake mushrooms)
  • 1/4 white onion, chopped
  • 2 blocks beef stew roux
  • 2 blocks dark chocolate (no sugar)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 200 ml water

What is Omurice?

Omurice or omu-rice is sauteed fried rice with vegetables and is often served with demi-glace sauce over a delicious Japanese omelette. An example of a yōshoku (western style food) with scrambled eggs. It is a popular dish in Japan, both usually cooked at home and found in western-style restaurants in Japan. Omurice Recipe Preparation
